The NFL and Police Brutality
It's 2017. By now prejudice and racism against other people should end in the U.S., but the very little progress we made had retreated.
Starting off with Colin Kaepernick, NFL players have been standing up (more like kneeling down) against this issue by taking a knee during the National Anthem instead of what is expected. The peaceful protest gained more popularity when Donald Trump commented on it, saying that the NFL players that kneeled down should be kicked out of the stadium.
There are many different opinions on this. Some people are saying that kneeling before the flag is disrespectful, which is why they shouldn't do it. But I understand why they would, considering what is going on in the U.S. such as police brutality and the Charleston incident.
Going back to the tweet from Donald Trump, saying that NFL players like Kaepernick should be kicked out of the stadium. I think that actually kicking them out of the NFL, or punishing them is violating the first amendment, which states the Freedom of Speech. Telling people that they have to respect the government and they have to agree with it gives them no choice, which is not the freedom to say anything you want.
This is my opinion on the NFL protests against police brutality, but you may have other opinions.
