PARCC Testing Tips
It's that dreaded time of year again all of us hate. PARCC Testing. Every spring, students are forced to spend about a week taking these horrible standardized tests. PARCC always puts everybody in a bad mood. Luckily, I've found some tips that may help make PARCC and other tests easier to get through and less stressful.
1. Get some sleep
Without sleep, your brain has trouble concentrating, focusing, and working in general. Get a full night's sleep the day before the test to make sure your brain works at its best on test day.
2. Have a healthy breakfast
Your brain needs brain food to work! Before the test, have a breakfast which is healthy and rich in protein. Try foods like eggs or yogurt.
3. Practice!
This one might seem pretty obvious. To get a good score on the test, you have to practice! You can use online practice tests so you know what kind of questions will come your way.
4. Use your extra-time wisely
After you finish the test, use the extra time to go back and review your answers. You might have made a silly mistake, and it's better if you go back and fix it.
5. Wear comfortable clothing
This one might seem a little weird but I've tried this and it helps a lot. If you wear comfortable clothing during your test, you will stay warm and comfy and your brain will be able to focus more.
6. Go to the bathroom 20 minutes before the test
It will be hard to concentrate with a full bladder, so don't drink any water before the test and use the bathroom 20 minutes before the test starts.
7. Don't Panic
If you start getting anxious, take some deep breaths and relax. And don't worry if other people are done before you. You're likely to get things wrong if you do them quickly in a panic.
